Make your own epoxy floor?

Metallic epoxy, vinyl flooring, epoxy paint

You may be tempted to do the work yourself. After all, it doesn't seem that difficult.

We encourage you to take a good look at the information on this page in order to make an informed choice. As a contractor specializing in epoxy and polyaspartic flooring, Magog Epoxy Flooring has often had to repair broken pots resulting from work done by amateurs. We wish to spare you the inconveniences caused by such a situation.

First of all, here is a thought-provoking example. You are probably part of the vast majority of the population who have their oil change done at the garage. Yet, it's a simple task to perform. So why do you prefer to pay someone else to do it for you? Most likely the main reason is that it's a messy job. Your mechanic is much better equipped to do the job than you are. They know exactly what oil and air filter your car needs, and they have all the equipment they need to get the job done quickly and efficiently. What's more, thanks to his experience, he is able to detect any anomaly that affects your vehicle.

The experience

Just like your mechanic, we have the equipment, products and experience to get the job done perfectly. Over the years, we have dealt with every situation imaginable. When we visit you to evaluate your project, we are able to identify the specific challenges related to the room where you wish to do the work. You are thus assured of obtaining a top-of-the-line product adapted to your needs.

We consider the installation of epoxy floors as an art. The look you get on a concrete floor is similar to that of an artist looking at a white canvas. Each project is unique and allows a multitude of options.

Preparation of the surface

Surface preparation makes all the difference between a successful project and a failure. When you choose to do the work yourself, you don't have access to the same tools as a professional. If there is paint on the concrete, you will first have to remove it by sanding the floor. This is an arduous and grueling task. For this reason, some people choose to take a shortcut and sand only the areas where the paint is chipped. This method is not recommended because it does not provide optimal results. Moreover, even if you sand the entire floor, you will not be able to prepare the surface optimally because the ideal is to grind the floor and not sand it. Finally, you will have to clean the concrete with a degreasing product.

When you deal with Magog Epoxy Floor, you are assured that the surface will be prepared to perfection. Using our diamond blade grinder, we will completely remove the existing paint layer. If there is no paint on your concrete, we will still use this tool to prepare the floor to receive the epoxy.  All experts agree that the use of a diamond blade grinder is the best way to properly prepare the concrete. Thanks to our equipment, we proceed to a complete grinding of the floor and not a simple sanding.
